§ 1-9. Default in payment of fine.

  • (a)

    Any person in default of payment of any fine imposed or part thereof shall be imprisoned in the city jail for a period of time sufficient to discharge such fine, receiving a credit of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each day or fraction thereof.

    (b)

    The judge of the municipal court of Grand Prairie may, at his discretion, increase the credit given for time served in the city jail to any amount which the judge of the municipal court deems appropriate for each day or fraction thereof to any person imprisoned in the city jail so long as that person is participating in the trustee program at the city jail; provided, however, that the judge of the municipal court of Grand Prairie must authorize a credit of at least fifty dollars ($50.00) for each complete day that any person successfully participates in and completes in a trustee program. The chief of police shall be responsible for determining whether such person has successfully completed the trustee program.
