§ 25-69. Traffic safety fund.

  • The penalties and fees collected from the imposition of civil liability under this article shall be deposited in the traffic safety fund account established by the city council. Funds from the traffic safety fund may be expended only for the costs of automated signal enforcement under this article, public traffic or pedestrian safety programs, traffic enforcement, intersection improvements, and rail road crossing improvements. The first priority of expenditure of the funds from the traffic safety fund shall be in providing safety improvements to reduce or eliminate illegal crossing of rail lines. If there is a state law which limits the ways in which the revenues can be spent, or which mandates that a portion of such revenues must be paid to the state, and which conflicts with the provisions of this city ordinance, the provisions of such statutes shall apply, and the city will act in accordance to such statutes.
